EXTRAORDINARY VICTORIAN FLOOR REGULATOR CLOCK CIRCA 1870
Rare Victorian Floor Regulator Clock. An exquisite example of Victorian clock making dating back to the 1870's. The cabinet and movement have been lovingly restored back to museum quality with a beautiful porcelain dial, unique brass and steel lyre pendulum, a pin lever escapement movement with a compound weight system and a combination walnut and burled walnut cabinet with breath taking hand carved detail. Maybe the most important part of what makes this clock so special is the pin lever escapement movement making it extremely accurate and reliable.
Cabinet: The cabinet is 107" tall, the base footprint is 30"x12". It is solid walnut with burled walnut veneer and hand carved Victorian details giving the cabinet a richness deserving of its history.
Dial: Fantastic porcelain dial with Roman numerals encased in a heavy, solid brass bezel. The hands are handmade moon style with a black oxide finish.
Movement: Heavy brass and steel movement with pin lever escapement that utilizes a compound weight system. Extremely reliable. Extremely accurate.
Provenance: This clock was manufactured in the Philadelphia area circa 1870. It was brought to Loudoun County Virginia by a local Quaker family known to be one of the first families to arrive in the area. The clock remained with this family until purchased by Eastern Standard Time Clock Company in 2009.
